AudioAnnotator is a tool educators, students, researchers and practitioners can use to easily add timed text to an audio file. The resulting output is in the form of an html page, removing the need for additional software, such as QuickTime or RealPlayer. This provides anyone with a computer and access to the internet instant access, regardless of location or technological sophistication.
Originally developed for use in the field of Communicative Disorders as a tool for improving student comprehension of speakers at different level of development and possesed of a variety of oral language problems, the tool has a number of additional potential applications. It can be of use in providing transcribed audio materials to students who are deaf or hearing impaired, as a way to draw attention to or comment on specific portions of a speech or musical performance or to simply transcribe audio for future use.
